National Acadian Day
The municipality of Neguac organizes activities to mark the National Acadian Day. The event will take place on August 15th, everything starts with the flag raising at noon at the Richelieu Municipal Park. Then there will be outdoor concerts and poutines râpées. Bring out your Acadian colours, along with your chairs, beach umbrellas and sunscreen. Come and celebrate Acadia with us! Admission is free.

Provincial Giant Pumpkin Festival
This festival originated with a Neguac man who liked to grow giant pumpkins. In 1995, Camille Breau organized the first official weigh-in, with three participants and around twenty spectators.
For the first three years, Mr. Breau and his wife Monique did all the organizing for the competition. Due to the festival’s growing popularity, they had to use the Neguac Sportplex Arena to accommodate the growing number of participants and spectators. This is also why, in 1998, the Breaus partnered with the Neguac Club Richelieu Féminin to organize and run the festival, which had become known provincially.
Now moved to the Neguac Club d’âge d’or, organized by committee of citizens and in partnership with the municipality of Neguac since 2015, the festival is still very successful. A number of prizes with a total value of over $2,500 are awarded to participants. At the weigh-in in 2010, Mr. Edmund Hemphill of Mount Pleasant, New Brunswick, set a new record with a pumpkin weighing 1468 lb.

Neguac Celebrates Fall

Lighting of the Christmas Tree
This opportunity brings to our municipality the atmosphere of the holiday season of merriment and joy. The
celebration of this day begins at 6 pm with the lighting of the tree at Parc
Richelieu followed by the visit of Santa Claus. Everything takes place outside
at Parc Richelieu with good hot chocolate and small cake served on site. In
addition, Santa Claus gives a surprise to all the little children.
